Building a new speaker box for the damaged one

The water damaged speaker cabinet was not recoverable. The damage was so extensive that touching it caused sawdust to fall out of it. It also warped the side panel badly.

The material used was a very cheap kind of chipboard and couldn't take the intake of water. The swelling made it irreparable.

I measured each part of the cabinet and created a cutting plan to make it easier to duplicate the case. All the parts of the cabinet can be made on a single 4'x4' piece of 3/4" MDF.

The 3/4" MDF was fairly inexpensive at around $60 for a 4x8' sheet. That's enough to make two of the bass cabinets (my eventual goal).

Also worth looking into is an upgrade of the original 8" woofer in the Spectras.

They are incredibly light and flimsy. The speaker was made with thin stamped steel, a small magnet and cheap paper cone material. Underwhelming.

A newer higher quality driver will be used. I have found the small diameter of the woofer doesn't fit aesthetically with the fairly large bass box so I'm thinking of going with a 10" woofer.
